Perhaps, the biggest highlight of this infrastructure jack up is the construction of the Commonwealth Games Village. This is a residential project sprawling over 27 acres of land right next to the iconic Akshardham Temple. A total of 34 apartment buildings with 1168 flats are being erected over an area of about 3,500 square feet. The smallest apartments have two bedrooms in a 1400 square feet area, while the biggest ones have five bedrooms over 3,500 square feet.
These apartments would be used for housing athletes as well as officials during their stay in India. Once the games are over, the apartments would be sold off to the general public. The services of some of the best overseas architects and interior designers were hired for this project. Unsurprisingly, everything in the Games village is world class, be it the security system, solar powered lighting, or bathroom fittings.
